Obviously after the Huge success for the North Coast 500 it was hoped that they would come away with an award and they Did. In the UK & IRELAND category The Dartmoor Artisan Trail was named Best UK & Ireland Tourism Project for 2017Highly commended is The Piece Hall Halifax in West Yorkshire England

Also Highly Commended is the National Heritage Centre for Horse-racing & Sporting Art in Newmarket England

Merit Awards have gone to the following placing them among the top ten new tourism projects in the United Kingdom:So although the North Coast failed to take away the Big One they still managed a Merit AwardThe Route and the concept is still in it's early days and this year has giving the Authorities and the NHI something to think aboutMore Tourists means more income to the local economy but I still say that they really need to dig deep and invest heavily in the infrastructureI also find there are a lot of facebook pages where "Tourists" come on asking a Tourist Question and a lot of the time they are answered by locals who seem to rip them apart and make them out to be stupid. I have known of some people after receiving such online verbals to openly say they won't come back or even visitI know also that these people who dish out this rubbish and negativity are certainly in the minority but the Facebook Admins of these pages don't do enough and some appear to encourage itIt is these two factors that have to be controlled Investment and control over Stupid people on Facebook PagesI have always said that the North Coast 500 is the Best things to hit the Highlands for many many years with the decline in so many industries this could be our pot of Gold if managed correctly "
